About Sandra

Born in Zambia and blind/visually impaired almost from birth, Soprano, Radio Presenter and Voiceover artist Sandra Gayer has learned to work exclusively in Braille, including of course, Braille music.

Sandra was a student at the Royal College of Music Junior Department achieving her Grade Eight singing qualification with distinction within eighteen months.

Sandra has appeared in a wide variety of arenas including; theatrical and classical productions, T.V. and radio broadcasts as well as a leading role in 'Orpheus the Mythical', a musical written and produced by Sir Richard Stilgoe. Sandra also performed at The House of Commons, Palace of Westminster.

Sandra made her international debut performing at The Enzo Ferrari Museum, Modena, Italy, 2013. Apart from her solo performances, she sang with members of The Pavarotti Foundation, directed by Maestro Paolo Andreoli, of La Scala Milan.

Sandra was invited to be a Soprano Soloist in the Opera, Magna Carta, The Freedom Game, which was performed at the Royal Albert Hall in May 2015. The opera was written by Sir Richard Stilgoe and Hannah Conway, directed by Karen Gillingham, to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta at Runnymeade. Sandra performed at The Great Charter Festival at Royal Holloway University and at the Major International Commemorative Event at Runnymeade.

Using her voice in every area of her career, Sandra is a Broadcast Presenter and her Classical Programme 'Music Box' on RNIB’s Connect Radio won a Finalist Award at the New York Festivals Radio Programs and Promos Awards 2013. This year, Music Box has been nominated in the Radio Programme of The Year category, in the inaugural Diversity in Media Awards 2017.
